What a rip-off!!! - Coinstar
I specifically went to this Coinstar machine at a Kriger because it would give gift cards; when I started the machine it actually asked if I wanted a gift card and asked me to select it, which I did. It stated that there was no fee if a gift card was being received....

They not only charge you 11.9 percent but it doesn't count all the coins . I went to a coinstar but before I went I counted all the quarters that I had , it was 565 and I had approx 70 dollars in pennies nickels and dimes , my total was 150 and some change Do the math , there was more than 150 in quarters alone *** them

Not pissed | Coinstar

I went to my local coin star with approximately 300.00 in coins today. I counted the change a few months ago so I had a ballpark amount since I added/borrowed quarters for parkway tolls since then. It was an quick and easy process to count my coins in the machine and select a Lowe's GC. I received the correct amount of money and have a Lowe's e-GC to use.

OMG they want like 12%, that's just unbelievably outrageous, I was gonna cash in about 600 bucks worth but NO WAY am I paying them over 60 bucks for it...blows my mind. They need to drop the rate to 5% or less. I've heard of charging for things but for a simple service...

Coinstar pays for the machine to be built and delivered. It maintains personel to service and manage the area reps.

The store gets a % of that fee. The company that picks up the coin gets part of that fee. They deliver the coins to brinks who process the coin bins and they get part of the fee. There are a lot of hands out for part of that fee.

I'm sure coinstar wishes they made that much on a transaction. All the costs of doing business. Even the banks have those processing fees, however a lot of times they eat the fees for their customers by moving them to their advertising budget to attract more customers. What if someone gave you $10,000 in pennies.

You would have to pay someone to pick them up, and where would he take them? You'd have to pay another company to take them off your hands to roll and process them..

4-1-2017 1: 30 AM I took 352 quarters to a Coinstar exchange machine. It was apparent the counter was not working correctly. The coins were dropping into the hopper...I listened and watched the coin counter. The counter was extremely slow. The machine said "wait while...

I agree with the comment re the ink the e gift certificates. I got one for approximately $35 for IHop.

Within a month, you could not read the bar code and the restaurant wouldn't accept it. Hmph!

I checked the rejected coin slot and only a few dimes fell through. "Don't use the machine," most people would say, "it's a waste." I knew full well about the fee, and I weighed the pros and cons and figured the $20+ would be worth the time it would take to roll the...
